Brilliant weekend

Football, craft shopping and catching up with friends - what a great way to spend the weekend!!!

First up on Saturday was a trip to White Hart Lane to see the mighty Spurs. It was a family trip and everyone really enjoyed it. My uncle, cousin and 2 2nd cousins (Sophie and Joe) came up from Eastbourne on the train so that Joe could see his first Premier League team. He's now a converted Spurs fan and even bought a Spurs top yesterday with his pocket money LOL I think it helped that both goals were at our end of the pitch and they met the Spurs players afterwards - Robbie Keane is a legend!!!

Next on my fab weekend was a trip down to Ally Pally for a little bit of shopping and lots and lots of laughing and chatting. It was great to meet up with the girls again. I've taken today off to recover LOL Will post piccies of my yummy new stash later on.

Exhausted

Had a brilliant day out yesterday - went to Stamperama. Well, it's held in my local leisure centre so it would be rude not to go LOL Met up with a few forum buddies - Claire, Kerrie and my UKScrappers teamie Gemma, who was working very hard on the Stampin Up stand ;o) - I got a catalogue and have started a wish list :o)

I did buy a few other little bits. Before I show piccies, I just have to say that I got loads of bargains. Some of the Penny Black stamps were reduced from £7.95 to £2.95 or even £1.95. Very very happy with me bargains LOL

Also got the Stampin Up Stamp-a-ma-jig that Kerrie ordered for me and it's brilliant. Although, I was shattered last night, I had a little play and OMG what did I ever do without it. Can already see that being my best buy for this year LOL

Challenge

A lovely friend of mine set up a challenge to make a card. She sent us the white embossed card, flower, ribbon and 3 bits of bling. The only thing we could do was use our own blank card, add a bit of colour and a sentiment.

I really struggled with it - isn't it weird how having just white can be soooo daunting. Anyway, here's the card that I made.

I added the sentiment (which is one of the new Hero Arts ones - that I'm addicted to - thanks to Kerrie LOL), coloured the ribbon and tips of the flower with a silver ink pad and added brown and pink bazzill to try and give it a bit of ooomf <<< is that a real word LOL

I was quite pleased with the result but the total surprise was that I came 2nd in the competition. I didn't know it was a comp - making the card was a challenge all of it's own but I'm soooo pleased that everyone liked it.

Great Weekend

I had a brilliant weekend over at Kerrie's. Lots and lots of chatting and laughing combined with a little bit of shopping and oh a bit of crafting is definitely a recipe for a great weekend.

We did manage to fit a little visit to Capture The Magic. Was only going to pop in for a quick visit but we ended up being there for 2.5 hours - don't know how that happened.

Apart from all the yummy stash, what we did see (very excitedly) was the new Doodlebug goodies that have just been announced.

Don't know when they're going to be available to buy but OMG I want it all. There's gorgeous velvet fluff :o) - it looks like sherbert that you can just stick your finger into, papers, velvet papers, ribbons, chipboard shapes to use with the fluff. OMG I nearly forgot the velvet brads - if you love the sugar coated brads then you are definitely going to love the velvet brads.

No stamps, which is a bit sad as the other Doodlebug stamps (that I've got) are well used so I was hoping that they'd have some new ones.

Kerrie did show me her new Stampin' Up goodies and OMG I've seen the light with the Stamp-ma-jig (I think it's called that). A very simple idea but what did we ever do without it - yep I know - either throw away cards or have to cover the "mistake" up LOL

Anyway, we did "surprise surprise" actually make some cards - well 2 each - but that is a massive improvement on last time we got together. Here's the 2 that I made:

Apart from the few bits I bought at CTM, the other thing I came home with is a list of stuff that I really have to do or get - storage drawers for my paper off cuts (which I stopped off at Staples for on the way home :o), pens to colour my Penny Black ellie in etc etc etc. All in all, a brilliant weekend spent with a very good friend xxx

I've just finished running a swap on a fab forum, so I thought I'd show the cards that I did for it.

Neighbours

My parents next door neighbour is a lovely lady. She still calls me "the little girl next door", even though I now tower over her and I moved out of my parents house nearly 8 years ago LOL

It's her 78th birthday tomorrow so I've made these 2 cards. The Tilda one is from me and the Papernation rambler is from my mum and dad. It was the first time that I've used my new Spellbinders Nestabilties dies and they're fab. The embossing is so effective.

Last post of 2007

This year has flown by. It doesn't feel like 2 days ago that 2007 started and now we're hours away from 2008.

Not going to get philosophical (can't even spell it LOL) about what I had planned for 2007 and what I haven't done. All I'll say is that it's been a good one. On the crafty side, I met up again a few times with my fab crafty friends and spent far too much money - the bad influences know who they are ;o)

I also joined a fab team over on http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/ Really didn't know what I was getting into but the Pink Glitter Girls have made it such a great experience and I look forward to earning loads more points for our fab team in 2008 and taking part in my first ever circle journal.

So I hope everyone has a great New Years Eve and I'll see you all in 2008!!!!!!

Secret Sister

I've been taking part in a secret sister swap since June where every month we send a card anonymously (sp?) to the same person. As my "sister" now knows who I am LOL, I think it's okay to show the cards I sent.

I tried to change my card making style so she wouldn't guess it was me and I think it worked LOL

This froggy one went missing in the post - blooming Royal Mail!!!

Friends birthday card

A really good friend at work has just left the company to follow his (and his girlfriends) dream of moving to Scotland. Before he left, I promised that I'd send him a birthday card - couldn't forget the date as he put in my work diary for the 1st December "someone's birthday!".

He's into chickens (oooo err missus) - watch this space for his Christmas card ;o) but is an animal person so the Penny Black frog stickers came in really handy. Did intend to use a stamp but ran out of time.

Think Pink

Despite an emotional week, I had some fab news on Wednesday.

A friend organised a competition for Breast Cancer Awarenewss. We all paid £1 for every card we entered and raised a brilliant £135. All the cards were then sent to Kerrie so she could send them onto the charity to raise even more money for such a worthwhile cause.

Here's piccies of the cards that I sent. I was very happy as I unexpectedly won the Christmas and Thinking of You categories.

Card for a lovely friend

The black/white paper is from Dovecraft. The white flower is a Heidi Swapp one with a pink Prima Sprite and Making Memories brad at the centre
I used a sketch challenge from a blog but I really can't remember which one. I'll try and find out and give credit where it's due for a fab sketch.

Fab weekend

Started my blog on Friday and didn't do anything to it over the weekend. That's because I was having a great time with my friend Kerrie (who came to stay on Saturday) and then at Ally Pally on Sunday. Met up with a few friends and had a really good laugh. Managed to squeeze in a bit of stash shopping.

Hello from me

After weeks of deliberating, cogetating and digesting, I've finally started my blog. Thanks to my Crafting Friends and UKScrappers team mates for the encouragement.
